Katharina Vogel (*1962) trained as a structural draughtswoman and enjoyed her dance training at the Rotterdam Dance Academy in the Netherlands. Trained in artistic gymnastics, classical ballet and contemporary dance, she combines influences from Butoh dance, performance art and eco-somatic approaches in her work. Her work includes 20 dance and video projects that have been presented in Europe, North/South America and South Africa. In her work, Katharina Vogel explores the modelling of a fragile space and the effects of dance on health. Her language is orientated towards minimalism and conscious perception. Her scenic and choreographic universe is dense and poetic, where the economy of gesture allows the body to appear in its power. She has lived and worked mainly in Biel for 30 years. She teaches her research Dance From Landscapes and is a practising soma embodiment therapist.
