Angelika Ächter (*1962) grew up in Bavaria. Studied education, specialising in elementary music and dance. Trained in new dance at bewegungs-art freiburg, further training in improvisation/technique/choreography; action theatre with Ruth Zaporah (USA), completed an MAS in dance culture at the University of Bern. Initially danced for Lilo Stahl and Anzu Furukawa. In Fribourg, she choreographed for her own ensemble for 9 years, including commissioned work for La Fura Dels Baus (E). In Zurich, she was co-curator of the experimental platform DAtanzDA from 2004-2012, and in 2006 she received a recognition award for dance in Zurich. She taught dance theory for 15 years, first at bewegungs-art freiburg, then at the Höhere Fachschule für Zeitgenössischen & Urbanen Bühnentanz; as well as a research assistant at the Swiss Archive of Performing Arts. Since 2015, she has been choreographing pieces and developing a site-specific format for the association Tanztheater Dritter Frühling with and for people over 60. Angelika came directly from dancing to choreographing. Her experience in the interdisciplinary collaboration of dance, visual arts and video led to her particular interest in developing performance formats for dance-theoretical themes and sharpening her dramaturgical eye. Her artistic curiosity led to the initiation of the collective ‘dance me to the end’ together with Tina Mantel.
