Jasminka Stenz (CH/D) is a contemporary artist based in Basel. Her main material is the human being and an expanded concept of what bodies could be. She touches the boundaries of humanity and corporeality. Her last collaboration was with the Kunsthaus Zürich as a performer for the retrospective of Marina Abramović. The stage, the theatre, and her side-specific spaces are her home and in the context of installations and happenings her work comes to light with questions of identity, physicality and the human experience. She is trained as a professional dancer/choreographer mainly in Berlin. In her interdisciplinary approaches, the audience plays a central role and she raises questions about the extent to which a stronger contact and dialog can take place with them and which spaces need to be created or destroyed for this to happen.
Stenz has worked in various contexts, including theatre, dance performances and installations, and she is known for actively/interactively involving the audience in her art.
