Marco Volta, born in Turin, studied dance at the dance school "Lo Studio", Bussoleno ,Turin. From 1994 he performed for several theaters and independent dance groups in Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Ireland. Among others he was engaged by CoisCéim Dance Theatre with David Bolger (2007), Tanztheater Freiburg-Heidelberg under Irina Pauls (2004-06), Luzerner Theater with Anna Huber (2004), Theater St. Gallen with Philipp Egli (2001-03) and Stadttheater Hildesheim under Ralf Jaroschinsky (1999-2001). Marco currently works as a dancer for the Dance On Ensemble (Berlin), the Compagnie Prototype Status (Vevey) and the MIR Compagnie (Basel). His fascination with the fusion of different dance styles has led him to collaborate with flamenco and urban dancers and choreographers. As a choreographer he has created several works for dance, drama and opera. Besides dance engagements on and off stage, he developed his teaching activities at academies, theaters and training centers for professional dance practitioners. Since 2014 Marco has been a lecturer at the Higher Professional School for Contemporary and Urban Stage Dance and since 2015 at the Zurich University of the Arts, Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary Dance. In addition to his commitment to the professional development of dancers, Marco works with children and young people, including teaching for the miniMIR Education Dance Programme and the young ensemble Hermesdance.
