Born in the UK, Vanessa had an intense classical ballet training before heading to Leeds University to study Philosophy and English Literature. After graduating with a BA Hons, she returned to dance, training at Northern School of Contemporary Dance (UK). Since then, Vanessa has performed with numerous dance and aerial companies including Protein, Motionhouse, Wired Aerial Theatre, Oeff Oeff and the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. After moving to Switzerland, Vanessa started choreographing her own work (since 2016). Her pieces have toured Switzerland and abroad. Vanessa has received commissions from other dance and theatre companies including Utah Metropolitan Ballet, Kollektiv F, BewegGrund, Milton Keynes Art Gallery, Creation Theatre, Guildford Shakespeare Company, National Portrait Gallery and Siobhan Davies Dance. Drawing on contemporary/aerial dance, contact improvisation and text, Vanessa has also choreographed numerous outreach and inclusive pieces in British and international schools, universities and prisons. Vanessa is currently a co-director of the BETA Stage Festival and a board member of Nachwuchstanz, Bern.
